Fellow Oppo members of Los Angeles, I am in the area for the weekend on vacation from NJ. My girlfriend is going to a concert tonight that I have no interest in. So I have a couple hours to kill. I am driving around a rental Porsche Cayman so I’d love to have a small Oppo meet if anyone is available last minute. A short cruise or even just hanging out in a parking lot would be awesome.

Details

What: Los Angeles Oppo Meet.

When: Tonight (Saturday 10/8) at 7pm

Where: I’m in Hollywood but I’m down to go anywhere.

Let me know if you are interested! My email is rduncan5678 at Gmail. Best way to figure out details.

Can’t do anything tonight, but if you want a list of good coastal canyons to drive I’m happy to help out.

Sure, more suggestions the better! I have like half a day dedicated on Sunday to just driving anyways. I’m definitely planning on hitting Tuna and Latigo canyons along with some Mulholland Highway on the way to Malibu (girlfriend loves El Matador beach).

I did a short drive down Mulholland drive this morning, I can definitely tell this car is fun already!

Sorry for the late response - haven’t been at my computer all day.

Tuna and Latigo are great, but carry a bit of traffic. Might get stuck behind a Prius or worse, find a cop sitting round a corner.

My personal favorite is Mulholland, after it splits from 23 (Decker). You can take Mulholland all the way down, which is a nice drive, or you can take the Yerba Buena fork which is fantastic (although the pavement is a bit rough).

The drive on Mulholland itself to get there (it’s a while past Latigo and whatnot) is great, too. And the drive down 23 into Westlake Village is nice if you don’t get stuck behind someone doing 25 - as I did a couple of hours ago...

Thanks. Yeah I always expect to get stuck behind people, especially on a weekend. But such is life. Yerba Buena is some shit pavement but it’s all relative. Much better than most roads at home still. This Cayman is actually quite comfortable. I thought it would be a lot more jarring. Handles like a dream!

It is, but it’s a nice drive and deserted - and some of the branch roads coming off it are interesting drives, too.

Cayman sounds great - I’d love to drive one there.

If only it had summer tires! The Hankook V12s are a good set of all seasons and they definitely had tread on them but it was funny to me how much they squealed and got hot just from a semi-spririted drive. I have yet to drive with proper summer tires on any California roads so I look forward to that once I move out there.

It certainly makes a difference. This weekend was my first on the canyons with the new Contis we put on the Rex and it was fantastic.
